Nursery care is available for all children ages birth through age 2 during both worship services in Room 2 all year. Our staff is trained and background checked and ready to make your little ones happy while you worship. There is also a glassed-in family room at the back of the sanctuary for parents who wish to keep their children with them in worship. It is equipped with toys and plenty of space to move around in. Families are able to hear, see and participate in the service. Please ask any of the ushers or greeters to help you find the family room in the sanctuary or the nursery in Room 2. We welcome your little ones!
9:00 Sunday School is a traditional style Sunday School. Pre-school age children go directly to their classroom while Elementary age children start with an opening worship service in Fellowship Hall. This service is designed to let the children learn traditional songs as well as praise songs. They share their prayers during Joys and Concerns and have an offering to share in the work of the church. It is also an opportunity for them to hear about the seasons of the church.
After worship they go to their various age level classes where lessons are presented using the Rock Solid curriculum published by Abingdon Press, the United Methodist Publishing House. It is designed to let each child study all of the major stories of the Bible in a three year cycle so that between the ages of 3 years and 6th grade they will have increased their understanding by stuying the scriptures three times. All curriculum uses colorful stories, pictures and craft ideas.
Children can be picked up in their classrooms after worship:
ages 3 through pre-k 5 – room 5
Kindergarten and 1st grade – room 7
2nd and 3rd grades – room 4
4th, 5th, and 6th grades – Founders’ Hall
11:00 Sunday School is a one room Sunday School setting. Children begin by attending with their parents in the sanctuary. After a children’s moment with the pastor, they are dismissed to Fellowship Hall where they have a short worship service of their own. The end of the service is a Sunday School lesson presented by one of the teachers that matches the lesson from the lectionary Children’s Moment. Their curriculum is called Faithweaver, and is based on the lectionary, which means their stories match the scripture that their parents hear in church each Sunday. The story is followed by a highly-interactive craft or a game that goes along with the story. They too will hear all of the major stories of the Bible that goes in a cycle every three years. They then have a closing and are picked up by parents when the church service is over.
